Illini sell out Rose Bowl tickets
It didn't take long for the Illinois to sell the last of its Rose Bowl tickets - just half an hour.
The university put the last 3,000 of its tickets on sale at 9 a.m. today. All were sold by 9:30.
Today was the first chance the general public had to buy tickets from the university.
The other 23,000 tickets were sold to season-ticket holders and people who donate money to the school.
Illinois finished a surprise 9-and-3 and will face USC in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. The game will be the Illini's first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1984.
"We work hard all year long to secure the best seats to the best games for our clients," said Chris Cabrera, spokesperson for Los Angeles ticket broker BarrysTickets.com. "If you want a once in a lifetime experience with this game, then we are the ticket service to call.
