Zygi Wilf: Minnesota Vikings won't pursue Brett Favre again
"When you have the opportunity to go get a Hall of Fame quarterback, you try to do it,"
Wilf said. "But when training camp came around, it was in or out."
Asked if the Vikings might revisit signing Favre later, Wilf said, "No, no."
Wilf said the possibility of selling more tickets and jerseys with the quarterback never factored into the team's decision to pursue him.
"We just wanted to make sure we got players that make us better,"
Wilf said.
Wilf said he has "great expectations"
for the 2009 Vikings, but he declined to talk about when he would address coach Brad Childress' contract, which expires after the 2010 season.
"We never make any preconditions on how the season should turn out or what conditions would be necessary,"
Wilf said. "We're very happy with coach and the coaching staff and our players, and we're excited for this year."
